After a year of soft pants and cozy knits, it’s time to slip into some structured denim via a pair of jeans but also, given the season, a jean jacket. A casual, lightweight topper is a stylish way to cope with fickle spring weather, and a denim option seems just right for the current moment.
A denim jacket has been and will always be one of those classic wardrobe mainstays you can hold onto forever. It’s a trend-less garment with year-round wearability, so there’s really no wrong time to invest in one. Plus, designers offer them most every season. Most recently, Erdem paired up with Universal Standard for a denim collection in a full range of sizes, while Ganni just released its second collaboration with the classic denim purveyor Levi’s—both offered a designer update on the durable jacket. And looking ahead to the fall 2021 collections, among the glitz and glamorous reemergence-ready pieces, was a handful of chic, pared-back denim silhouettes. In particular, Dries Van Noten, Victoria Beckham, Dior, and Hermès all used the Americana staple throughout their collections—with a focus on outerwear.
Here, a selection of both classic jean jackets and some options with a more inventive take. Shop them now, wear one always (for styling inspiration, head here), and hold onto it forever.
